Yvonne (Silvestre) Vidal, 64, of Uniondale, New York, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on February 25, 2026, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Yvonne was born on May 2, 1961, in New York, New York, to the late Miguel Silvestre and Claudia Golden Silvestre. She attended St. Pius School in the Bronx, New York, and went on to graduate from Towson State University, Class of 1983. She later earned her Master’s degree in Teaching from Hunter College in New York. It was at Towson where she met her devoted husband of 41 years, Eric Eliezer Vidal.
Yvonne and Eric built their life together in Uniondale, New York, where they proudly raised their two children, Eric Eliezer Vidal II and Erika Elena Vidal.
Yvonne was the cherished grandmother to James Xavier, Christian Eliezer, and Leo Ezequiel, the children of her son, Eric, and his wife, Courtney Hovsepian Vidal. Being “Wela” was one of the greatest joys of her life, and nothing made her happier than the time she treasured with her boys.
Yvonne dedicated nearly 40 years to a career in education. She began her teaching career in New York City and spent the last 25 years at Northern Parkway School in Uniondale. She was a committed and highly respected educator who believed strongly in the importance of learning, discipline, and responsibility. Over the course of her career, she taught and mentored many students and remained devoted to her profession.
In addition to Yvonne’s love for her family and teaching, she had a passion for dancing. In recent years she found great joy in traveling and spending time with her line dancing community.
Yvonne is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
